In Poland, the law on waste management was promulgated on December 14, 2012. Its purpose is to protect the environment, human life and health, standardize waste generation and management activities, and improve the efficiency of resource utilization. Its main content covers all aspects of waste management, including definitions, classification, treatment principles, supervision measures, etc.

The Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) is a fundamental part of the European Green Deal. It details the European Union's strategy for moving towards a circular economy. In this economy, resources are used for as long as possible, waste is minimized, and materials are recovered and reused. This transition is essential for lessening the EU's environmental impact, promoting sustainable economic growth, and enhancing resource security.

The European Green Deal is a comprehensive collection of policy initiatives introduced by the European Commission. Its overarching objective is to make Europe climate - neutral by 2050. Acting as a roadmap for a sustainable future, it aims to transform the EU's economy and society across multiple sectors.

In France, the ‘AGEC (Anti-Gaspillage et Economie Circulaire) law’ is a significant piece of legislation passed in 2020. Its overarching objective is to foster the circular economy and curtail waste across the nation.

In Finland, the Waste Act (646/2011) was promulgated on Jun. 17, 2011. It comprehensively covers the regulatory requirements for waste management in Finland, aiming to promote the circular economy, ensure the effectiveness of waste management, and protect the environment and public health.

The purpose of this Act is to establish a framework for a circular economy and to ensure that waste management and handling are conducted in a manner that:
a. safeguards human and animal health and prevents harm to the environment;
b. avoids nuisances such as noise or odors;
c. protects landscapes and areas of special significance;
d. ensures purposeful and cost-effective waste management, with appropriate treatment of resulting waste;
e. promotes the sustainable use of resources through actions and education aimed at reducing waste generation;
f. increases the utilization of raw materials derived from waste; and
g. ensures that waste handlers bear the costs of waste treatment.

In the Netherlands, the Law on the Protection and Utilization of the Physical Living Environment (Omgevingswet) was promulgated on March 23, 2016. Its aim is to establish comprehensive, effective and simplified rules covering all aspects of environmental management, including environmental planning, activity supervision, permit systems, responsibilities and obligations, etc.

The Swedish "Regulations on Producers' Packaging Liability" (2022:1274) came into force on January 1, 2023, aiming to promote the classification and recycling of packaging waste, facilitate the efficient use of resources, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. This liability applies to packaging made of various materials, covering the entire process from raw materials to final products, and from producers to users. This regulation has assigned new roles and tasks to municipalities, producers, Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs), and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, as follows:

The Danish Waste Treatment Act (Bekendtgørelse om affald) aims to regulate waste management, increase the utilization rate of resource recycling, and reduce the impact of waste on the environment. This law covers all aspects of waste treatment, including classification, planning, supervision, disposal systems, data management, etc., and is applicable to all types of waste and related activities, excluding residues from flue gas treatment based on fossil fuels.

In 2020, the Tokyo Olympic Games Organizing Committee declared that a series of related items fabricated from recycled materials will be employed in the current Olympic and Paralympic Games. The podium will be constructed using recycled household plastics and ocean plastics, while the uniforms for torchbearers will be manufactured from recycled fiber derived from plastic bottles. This initiative is intended to draw public attention to the issue of ocean plastic waste and advocate for environmental protection among the general populace.

The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) establish the benchmarks for the third-party accreditation of recycled materials and the chain of custody. The GRS encompasses a higher minimum recycled content percentage of 50% and supplementary social and environmental prerequisites concerning processing and chemical utilization.

Peru's Law N° 30884 regulates consumption of goods of plastic, single-use, that generate risk to public health and/or the environment
